Nice effort, ECU
Hate to see penalties and some tough calls play a role in the game - but a respectable score.

We've got a nice defense too, but I don't think we'll be able to keep Texas to 16 points!

Well done. That defense should win you your bowl game, whether it is the Liberty or other.

I was very impressed with ECU's defensive line. I wish USM had it. The qb position is killing the Pirates.

RE: Nice effort, ECU
The early penalties against ECU set the tone. VaTech is a running team that wins the field position battle and special teams battle most games. Our two fumbles in the red zone certainly didn't help, but the first fumble would have never occured if refs hadn't called back a touchdown with a phantom holding call. The refs did even out the calls towards the end of the game but by then the damage was already done.

it's worse. What kills me is that we were getting a decent push when it came to the running game, but there's not a whole lot of running you can do in first and 20 situations or 3rd and 18.

Was a pretty exciting game. Both teams were sluggin' it out old school.

On the money with that observation. Give us any of about 8 quarterbacks in CUSA and we're no worse than a 1 loss team with our defense.

Great job ECU. If you could have borrowed the UH offense and kept your defense, the game would have been a blowout.03-lmfao

But nonetheless, QB is nothing to write home about, but neither are the recievers. They are pretty slow, and their ball awareness is ZERO. Many times he threw them the ball and they werent even looking. WTF? Oh and lets not talk about the last guy that babbled a short pass, AND THEN, ran away from the ball to avoid getting hit! Seriously WTF?!? 03-lmfao

Result=INT. Shame!

ECU defense looked really good. It was disappointing when ECU had to reload in order to keep shooting themselves in the feet. Turnovers in the redzone, penalties including a called back touchdown. You're fans turned out nice and were loud and the stadium looked good.

I was thinking the same thing as WildCoog, if UH had that defense we would be unstoppable.

Linval Joseph and Van Eskridge could start anywhere in the country. They are huge difference makers. Joseph completely plugged up the middle by himself and, in many ways, changed the course of our game.

VT's defense is always one of the best in the nation, our offense isn't anything special but they helped make our offense look worse than it is. Half those throws you are refering to, Pinkney had no choice but to throw it way early in the WR's route. I don't think Houton would run all over the field on them either.

As far as our WR's Dwayne Harris is one of the best players in CUSA period forget just WR's, Jamar Bryant was out with injury this week, we do have a young guy emergining in Freeny who has made some hell of catches the last couple weeks.

It wasn't a bad effort. It was still great exposure for our program, big time feel last night. Wouldn't have traded that for some gimmie win.

That dude had the ball in his hands looked up the field, saw a train coming, and ran like a little bitch. Pathetic! SMH

Yep, the running back coming out the back field. When he saw the guys coming his eyes got buck. He said Oh sh*t to himself and got out the way. I think he sh*t in his pants. 05-stirthepot

by that point in the game, he wasn't the only with soiled pants. After sitting through that offense of ours, I felt like I had been hokie poked and I wasn't even on the field.

Well of course you are. Your guys would get to face a short, weak armed, slow footed quarterback in the Championship game. UH wouldn't even have to put many defenders on the left side of the field, because Pinkney doesn't usually throw in that direction anyway.

RE: Nice effort, ECU
we remind me of the panthers. Good D who plays their hearts out. Offense has a decent running game but the QB is average at best, but there's really no other option. I'd like to see us play houston, because that means we're back in the championship game and our team never ceases to surprise me good or bad. It'd be a fun one to watch ( or at least I like to think that it would be).

Oh well right now I'm worried about the boys in blue and gold.

Well lets not forget that Va Tech has a pretty good defense, that was a big part of our problem on offense. When we got in the situation where we had to pass every down they were bringing the blitz big time. Pinkney had to get rid of the ball before the pass routes had developed thus the timing was off for the receivers. Make no mistake about it we are a running team 1st and if we can not run the ball we are in trouble. That is where the 2 turnovers in the red zone killed us. If we could have even just got field goals on those possessions you are looking at a 13 - 9 game in the 4th quarter and we could still run the ball. Oh well, we just did not make the plays when we needed on offense. I felt bad for the defense out there because they played a great game but got no support from the offense.
